The Walk to Defeat MND is the premier annual fundraising event for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of South Australia (MNDSA). Growing from humble beginnings, it has now become their largest and most highly anticipated community event, attracting over 1,000 passionate participants each year in Adelaide.
Individuals, families, and corporate teams come together in solidarity to walk a loop around the picturesque River Torrens. This inspiring event not only raises crucial funds to help provide support and services for South Australians living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) but also increases awareness and fosters a powerful sense of community.
Held on Sunday 18 May from 9:00am, the Walk to Defeat MND will start and finish in the beautiful grounds of Pinky Flat in North Adelaide, just off War Memorial Drive and opposite the Adelaide Oval.
Participants come together in a sea of blue to show their commitment to supporting those impacted by MND, as they take on a 4.5km walk around the River Torrens. The route follows wheel-friendly paths, and there’s no pressure to complete it quickly – participants are encouraged to go at their own pace, with support and encouragement offered throughout by MNDSA staff and volunteers.
After completing the loop, the Pinky Flat hub becomes a place to gather and enjoy the community spirit. There’ll be a range of food and drink options, entertainment, raffles, and family-friendly activities to round out the day.
The Walk to Defeat MND welcomes people of all ages and abilities, and even furry companions are invited to join in the walk—just make sure all pets are kept on a lead.
MNDSA are proud to welcome Enable Fitness Centre and Kanda (formerly Programmed Care) as Gold Sponsors for the Walk to Defeat MND 2025.
