In an amazing effort, Showcase SA raised over $11,000 for The Hospital Research Foundation Group last week at their The Longest Table event, with all funds going directly to cancer research and treatment.
The astounding figure was raised through four highly-sought-after auction prizes, an exciting raffle and wine wall, across the two-course lunch hosted at The Sanctuary, Adelaide Zoo on Friday 3 September.
The day allowed guests to have a raw insight into the work that The Hospital Research Foundation Group does for the health and wellbeing of the community.
Guests heard from Keynote Speaker Will McDonald who shared his journey following a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2020, at age 42. Recognised by his role as Nine News Presenter, Will has partnered with The Hospital Research Foundation Group to spread awareness about the importance of looking after your health.
The auction was kicked off with a 9000ft tandem skydive experience alongside Will, generously donated by SA Skydiving. This, along with exclusive artwork from Emma Hack, a Crowne Hotel & Best Restaurants city-staycation package, and an 18L Leconfield Cabernet Sauvignon were all up for grabs.
McLaren Vale based winery Hither & Yon further donated all proceeds from bottle sales directly made from their wine wall.
Tragically, 50,000 people lose their life to cancer each year. It’s The Hospital Research Foundation Group’s mission to raise funds to help find new ways to prevent, treat, and cure this relentless disease through their annual fundraising initiative, The Longest Table.
Registrations to host a Longest Table event and raise incredible funds like Showcase SA for cancer research are still open. The official date for the event is September 18, however lunches can be held until the end of the month.
