This week, Paracombe Wine’s A Trio of Pinot was awarded People’s Choice at PACKWINE Forum & Expo.
The award was open to entries from all six design categories, and is sponsored by Showcase SA member, the National Wine Centre of Australia. PACKWINE is an inaugural event presented with Winetitles Media and includes an industry expert-led forum, wine packaging supplier exhibition, and above-mentioned awards presentation. The international competition allows submissions from Australia and New Zealand and provides a platform for wine packagers and designers to showcase their work.
While PACKWINE was originally a virtual event, this year’s content will also be published in the wine industry’s leading publication, the Australian & New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker May 2021 issue. PACKWINE recognises the essential contribution of wine packaging to the success of wine sales and their Design Awards feature the most innovative designs across several categories.
Anticipating the market potential for a sparkling rosé, co-owner of Paracombe Wines, Kathy Drogemuller, wanted the label to encompass the elegant history of the wine in a contemporary way. Paracombe credits Milly Howell Graphic Design, who designed the winning label with the help of Gavin Klose, the designer of Paracombe’s original label.
As the name suggests, A Trio of Pinot is made from Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. The label design gives ode to this, as the first wine in the world made from three Pinot grape varieties.
