It’s time for Australians to book their next holiday as 800,000 flights are about to be offered at half-price.
Trips to Australian destinations, including Kangaroo Island, are set to be subsidised by the government beginning April 1. This is bound to create a boost in local tourism and will be excellent for regional destinations across the country.
Other locations are the Gold Coast, Cairns, the Whitsundays, Alice Springs, the Sunshine Coast and more.
The inclusion of Kangaroo Island means you can travel to the South Australia island’s famous beaches, wineries, and restaurants without breaking the bank. The government will initially focus on discounting flights to 13 key tourism regions, so you can also travel interstate to see other parts of Australia.
The flights are part of the Australian government’s $1.2 billion support package to aid tourism. The discounts will last from April 1 to July 31, and some airlines, such as Qantas, have already started offering deals.
Morrison says this plan for tourism is key to boosting the economy.
“This is our ticket to recovery,” Morrison says, “800,000 half-price airfares to get Australians travelling and supporting tourism operators, businesses, travel agents and airlines who continue to do it tough through COVID-19, while our international borders remain closed.”
“This package will take more tourists to our hotels and cafes, taking tours and exploring our backyard. That means more jobs and investment for the tourism and aviation sectors as Australia heads towards winning our fight against COVID-19 and the restrictions that have hurt so many businesses,” Summarised the PM.
