Showcase SA raises $12,000 for bowel cancer prevention at Gather Round Lunch

In an amazing effort, attendees at Showcase SA’s Gather Round Lunch helped raise $12,000 for the Jodi Lee Foundation, with all funds going directly to helping the charity raise awareness for and prevent bowel cancer.

The incredible figure was raised through a raffle and wine wall across the two-course luncheon hosted at the Hilton Adelaide.

The day allowed guests to celebrate the ‘Festival of Footy’ while also being able to support the work the Jodi Lee Foundation does for the community.

The Jodi Lee Foundation is a leading voice for bowel cancer prevention. Annually, they engage with millions of Australians through national initiatives such as their workplace program, campaigns such as Trust Your Gut, major fundraising events like The JLF Trek, and a powerful social media presence to raise awareness about bowel cancer.

On the day, Jodi Lee Foundation Founder and CEO, Nick Lee OAM, reminded us of the importance of looking after our health. He shared the harsh realities of bowel cancer, including that 99% of cases can be successfully treated, or even prevented, if detected early.

At the lunch, attendees heard from legendary speakers including Billy Brownless, Andy Maher, Cameron Mooney, Kane Cornes and Ebony Marinoff, on a panel hosted by event MC Mark Bickley, sharing the funny stories and insights they have gained throughout their careers within the AFL.

The Hon Peter Malinauskas MP provided the official opening of the lunch as he discussed the importance of bringing an event such as Gather Round to South Australia, to showcase the very best SA has to offer.
