Showcase SA the connector for Australian-first event

Professor Graeme Suthers from Clinpath

South Australia’s first General Pathology Conference has seen Clinpath’s local pathology team provide an educational seminar to general practitioners from across the state, with a little help from Showcase SA.

Providing an unparalleled opportunity for GPs to expand their knowledge of a range of topics, including general men’s and women’s health, cancer and blood disorders, the event incorporated contributions from four Showcase SA members and partners.

“If you think about the day in the life of a GP, [it’s] full of varying topics, so the General Pathology Conference seemed to fit well and align with their day to day life in their practice and patients,” explains Clinpath’s Engagement and Marketing lead Charlie Robinson.

Clinpath forges connections through Showcase SA membership

The event is though to be the first of its kind in Australia, and evolved with support from Showcase SA member and partner Loftus providing information technology services for the event, and Blanco Horner, which is the venue manager for UCity (on Franklin Street) and operates a number of other Showcase SA preferred sites.

Their connection originated at Showcase SA’s first major post-lockdown event, where Clinpath’s CEO Dr Fergus Whitehead headlined a panel featuring the state’s chief medical officer Prof Nicola Spurrier and SACARE’s Chloe Kempe in discussing the impact of COVID-19 on the local health sector.

“Good medicine doesn’t just happen, Clinpath believe in and encourage ongoing education and we enjoy facilitating good outcomes,” Ms Robinson says.

“We led the Health Briefing in April with Dr Fergus Whitehead as key speaker, it was hosted at UCity which is a great venue with our ethos of caring for our elders, serviced by Blanco Horner and we sat next to Loftus – say no more!”

In just little over one year, Showcase SA has provided a platform for businesses to connect and build cross-sector relationships, with the General Pathology Conference demonstrating the opportunities its provides for South Australian business-to-business connections.

“Clinpath Pathology work in the health sector, UCity is a new venue, Blanco Horner manage venue catering and Loftus provides ICT services,” says Showcase SA co-founder and CEO Steve Testar.

“They all connected at a single Showcase SA industry event and have staged what’s potentially an Australian-first conference.

“We established Showcase SA to do just this – bring businesses together and help them do business with each other – we’re really pleased that these four organisations have enjoyed this success.”

Showcase SA membership starts from $500 and provides a range of opportunities from member networking events, to topical masterclasses, an Industry Series and executive business luncheons with Inspiring Leaders.
