On Monday 10th March at Plant 3 Bowden from 12pm – 4pm, you will find the BEST alternative to the Adelaide Cup, proudly supported by Scratch Pet Food and now its seventh year. The 2025 Scratch Pet Food Canine Cup is a day at the races like no other – filled with glamour, fun, and purpose. The Canine Cup offers all the excitement of a traditional race day, but without the guilt, making it the ultimate event for animal lovers and racing enthusiasts alike!
This year, two South Australian founded charities have come together to make this event possible, Paws for Change and Safe Pets Safe Families, with all proceeds from the day going directly to fund their programs that improve the lives of animals and the community on both a local and global scale.

During the event, race-goers will experience a race day with a twist and cheer on the “top dog” as six pre-recorded races are screened throughout the day. The event will also include Fashions on the Field for humans to strut their stuff or marvel at the creativity on display as well as a furry-friend version, whether your dog rocks couture or creative costumes, this is their moment in the spotlight. Quality South Australian food and drinks will be served along with raffles, a thrilling silent auction, activities, prizes, photo booth, market stalls and more to round out an action packed day!
Special guests and entertainment on the day includes a guest appearance by singer-songwriter Sarah McLeod and tunes all day courtesy of DJ JoSH.
To cater for the wide variety of passionate animal lovers there are two ticket options available, including a dog-friendly option.
General Admission – $89
- Includes race tokens, a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, shared canapés and dessert and a take home ‘Doggy Bag’
VIP Ticket to the “Puppy Penthouse” – $130
- Located on the mezzanine, the Pup Penthouse is the place to be! Enjoy your own private screen to get up close to the races, cocktail on arrival, private bar, roaming canapés, grazing and dessert tables, a take home “VIP Doggy Bag” and a private host to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action!
