An exclusive Sofitel Sparkling – “WE CALL IT LIQUID PASSION” – is arriving from Barossa Valley’s Rosenvale, a seventh generation Barossa family-owned vineyards, winery and cellar door.
As a member of Showcase SA, Rosenvale Barossa has been able to showcase some of its wines through high profile networking and SA-focused events across the past year. The Agribusiness Industry Insights Lobster Luncheon was one of those epic events that allowed Rosenvale an opportunity to have their wines poured in the company of Penfolds and Paracombe, to be enjoyed across a selection of Fergusson’s seafood selections… including half a lobster for each guest.
It was through the networking provided by Showcase SA’s Steve Testar that introduced Sofitel’s Rachel Harman to Rosenvale’s Ryan Kinghorn where this unique project all started to come together. Rachel’s goal was to work with a South Australian winemaker to produce a premium small batch sparkling wine to be exclusively served for guests at the Sofitel Adelaide. Her affiliate Sofitel hotels through Europe had produced a sparkling wine similar, however Rachel was more interested in producing a locally made product from one of South Australia’s wine regions.
The brief was simple yet complex: create a premium sparkling for the Sofitel Adelaide, made and grown by a local with a unique and real story and wrap it in Sofitel Adelaide packaging. After the challenging times and hurdles over the past year, Rosenvale has produced a limited production sparkling from its Rosenzweig vineyards from Semillon planted in 1940.
“Pale gold with a hint of cyan and nose of canned pear, lychee gums, white peach, banana, pineapple sage and hints of lanolin. In the mouth it’s fruity, … textured with an excitable and thick mousse and starts a little mineral and ends with a toasty finish. Beautifully expressed fruit with generosity and ripeness, carried by well-matched acidity.” Mark Malouf, Wine Worth Writing About.
The Sofitel Adelaide’s “WE CALL IT LIQUID PASSION” can now be enjoyed by all guests and visitors to the Hotel, its bars and restaurants.
“The Adelaide business community is incredibly well connected, however the connections become very real when Showcase SA’s team takes the time and has the interest in connecting businesses that they see have a symmetry and connection in working together. This project is one of many examples of why Rosenvale Barossa values its membership with Showcase SA.” Ryan Kinghorn, General Manager of Rosenvale Vineyards.
