Showcase SA member SMAART Recruitment opened its new Adelaide office in January 2019 after over a decade of operations out of Melbourne.

Showcase SA spoke to Matthew Dew, GM – South Australia for SMAART Recruitment to find out more about what their business does.

Q: What does SMAART Recruitment do?

We at SMAART Recruitment are a permanent recruitment and temporary staffing agency, specialising in Sales, Customer Service and Business Support roles.

Q: What sets you apart from other recruiters?

The service we provide to our clients and our excellence in candidate care.

This is backed by the numerous candidate and client focussed awards we have won, testimonials from our clients and reviews on Google.

We also bring Emotional Intelligence into recruitment looking at not only skills, aptitude and a cultural fit for your business but also a candidates’ level of EQ.

The World Economic Forum ‘Future of Jobs Report’ 2018 revealed that by 2022 Emotional Intelligence will continue to be among the top 10 required skills for success in the workplace.

Q: How long have you been in operation?

Our whole business started in 2005, however our Adelaide offices opened in January 2019.

Q: How have you managed your business through COVID-19?

We have been very busy throughout the COVID-19 period with a lot of our clients needing to hire to cope with increased demand.

Obviously we have been very fortunate with that, and appreciate it’s not the case for the majority of businesses, and certainly in other states.

We did have to move to work-from-home in the early stages [of restrictions] and like a lot of businesses we needed to pivot and change the way we interviewed, introducing online technologies for video interviewing, screening candidates and so-on.

Q: Why have you become a Showcase SA member?

As a proud South Australian and always having been an Adelaide boy, when I opened the business here I wanted to partner with local SMEs and build relationships where we could all help each other.

I think Showcase SA is a great vehicle for us to build that network, reputation and make some new and hopefully lasting business connections.

Beyond that, it’s a great place just to connect with likeminded South Australians running businesses in our wonderful state.

Q: How can SMAART help other Showcase SA members?

We would love to be able to partner with any Showcase member who required our assistance in securing the talent for their business.

We get to understand and know not just your brand, but the company culture to find the best staff that fit your business needs but also slot right in and share similar company values.

We also utilise emotional intelligence profiling to assist in finding the perfect match.
