Registrations are open for Showcase SA’s upcoming Industry Briefing and Industry Behind-the-Scenes at Prohibition Liquor Co.
Showcase SA Platinum and Gold members will be able to hear from industry leaders from South Australia’s agribusiness sector, including chair of Food South Australia Ray Borda, oyster industry farmers and advocates Graham Lilley and Steve Thomson, and Prohibition Liquor’s Adam Carpenter.
Mr Borda’s Macro Group Australia is the leading light of Australia’s kangaroo meat industry and for over 20 years has championed Kangaroo meat as a viable and popular alternative to other staples of the Australian dinner plate.
He was the EY Young Entrepreneur of the Year for products in 2009, and is also the chair of his industry’s peak body, the Kangaroo Industry Association of Australia.
Graham Lilley, partner of Coffin Bay Premium Oysters, and Oysters SA board member and Gazander Oysters proprietor Steve Thomson, will provide a valuable insight into the challenges they face and opportunities ahead for oyster-growing in the state.
Prohibition Liquor Co’s Adam Carpenter will similarly brief the audience on the state’s highly popular distilling industry, as well as responding to market trends, from the comfortable surrounds of his iconic premises on Gilbert Street.
“These events are great bookends to last month’s Industry Insights into Agribusiness with former premier Rob Kerin,” says Showcase SA CEO Steve Testar.
“Having the chair of Food South Australia Ray Borda on hand to provide an in-depth look into Agribusiness and provide insights into becoming the nation’s leading producer of Kangaroo meat will be fascinating, especially given its increasing popularity over the last decade.
“Graham Lilley and Steve Thomson’s briefing on the South Australian oyster industry, which has also seen its own fair share of challenges and opportunities in recent years, will be insightful, as will having Adam Carpenter on hand to tell us about the state of SA’s distilling industry.”
