We’re delighted to announce our next stage of growth here at Blackbird IT, with the recent acquisition of South Australian managed service provider, Calvert Technologies, effective August 1st 2024.

This marks a significant milestone in our growth journey, having come a long way since humble beginnings back in 2007.

We couldn’t be prouder to have Calvert Technologies join forces with Blackbird IT. This collaboration is a celebration of our shared values and commitment to fostering a positive company culture. By doing so, we aim to create even greater value for our clients, partners, and team alike – understanding our commitment to excellence,” says Richard Stafford, Director of Blackbird IT.

Calvert Technologies, founded in 1995 by Dean Calvert, has built a remarkable reputation over the past 29 years, serving over 1,200 clients across South Australia and the Northern Territory in that time.

“Joining forces with Blackbird IT is an exciting opportunity for both our clients and team. We look forward to combining our strengths and shared values to drive innovation and growth together,” shares Dean, CEO of Calvert Technologies.

Specialising in managed IT services, cybersecurity, business continuity, and cloud solutions, the talented team at Calvert Technologies is at the forefront of industry trends and technologies.

“I’m proud of everything that Calvert Technologies has accomplished over the years, and meeting Richard at just the right time has been ideal.”

“When considering this opportunity, which I refer to as my ‘legacy project’, a critical requirement was finding a good cultural fit for my team and clients. I feel confident in this partnership because our alignment and similarities in so many areas reassure me that I’ve made the right decision here.” says Dean.

This collaboration is a vital component of our broader strategic growth plan, driven by Blackbird IT directors Richard Stafford and Ben Corbett. This follows our first acquisition of Sydney-based managed service provider, Autonomous IT, back in 2022, which allowed expansion into the New South Wales market, gaining new clients and team members on the east coast.

“By bringing together a diverse range of professionals, we enhance our ability to offer a broader range of expertise. Tapping into new talent helps us stay innovative and adaptable, driving our continued success.” says Richard.

Integrating Calvert Technologies aligns with our vision of enhancing service capabilities and strengthening our position in South Australia. We are excited to work together as one united team, leveraging each other’s skills and expertise.

“We are confident that Calvert Technologies will be a great fit. After many discussions with Dean and his team, it’s clear that we share a strong cultural alignment,” says Richard.

The entire Calvert Technologies team has since transitioned to Blackbird IT’s had office in Dulwich, Adelaide, ensuring enhanced collaboration and access to a broader range of resources. Clients of Calvert Technologies will experience no change in operations, with business as usual.
