International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.
To celebrate this hallmark event, Showcase SA is organising a luncheon to highlight incredible women in South Australia.

Now global fitness trainer, Kayla has created one of the largest online female fitness communities in the world, reaching millions of women worldwide with her unique fitness programming.
Sandy is a first-generation Australian of Dutch, French, Portuguese and Ceylonese descent. Her parents gave her a deep-rooted understanding of business, an adventurous spirit, commercial acumen and a love of the arts.
Sandy was elected as an Area Councillor in the 2015 by-election and served as Deputy Lord Mayor from June 2017 to November 2018. She has had a career in both the public and private enterprise, not-for-profits, and Local and State government, including three years as General Manager City Culture and Community Services for the City of Adelaide.
Sandy has contributed to the success of Adelaide’s thriving arts and culture community for more than two decades, including having been CEO of the Adelaide Fringe and the Adelaide Festival, as well as producer of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas in 2018.
Tammy Barton is one of Australia’s most influential business women and female entrepreneurs. She’s the founding director of MyBudget, a service that Tammy started as a home-based business in South Australia more than 22 years ago (1999), and which has since grown into one of Australia’s most trusted and recognised financial services brands.
MyBudget relieves money worries and helps people achieve their financial goals via personal budgeting and money coaching. Today, the business employs more than 270 staff and has helped more than 110,000 clients. Tammy is a respected authority on personal budgeting and money management, who regularly features in the media as a personal finance expert and influential entrepreneur.
She has won the Telstra Business Woman of the Year (South Australia) twice, the Australian Government Business Innovation Award among multiple other recognitions, including Ernst & Young’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Central Region.)
Whilst training in urology, Samantha saw a need for a greater focus on incontinence treatments for women and a need for specialised care.
Her vision was to establish a sub-specialty practice bringing the best treatments available to the women of South Australia. She became the first urologist in Australia to exclusively specialise in female and functional urology, establishing Continence Matters in 2002, subsequently building her single surgeon practice into a Centre of Excellence.
Dr Pillay has served on numerous National and State boards and committees, including; Chair of the Female Urology Special Advisory Group for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand from 2007 to 2013. Samantha has devoted her career as a surgeon to treating incontinence, reducing the stigma, and educating doctors, health professionals and the community. Samantha was a nominee for the SA Australian of the Year 2022.
